In order to provide an effective protection, charge released upon strike must be properly deviated towards the GND_ESD . This is achieved by proper grounding of the ESD capacitors to such a dedicated ground plane, which is then joined with the other grounds at the PCB connector to PACK_GND, regardless of the hotplug protection implementation.
