Voltage and Auxiliary Measurements Voltage Measurements The ADBMS2950B devices can measure 10 voltage inputs, preceding multiplexers, and buffers through V1ADC and V2ADC. Any pin can be measured either vs. SGND or VREF1P25. The inputs V1 and V2 can also be measured vs. V3 or V4. The inputs V1 to V6 are measured redundantly through V1ADC and V2ADC, whereas V7 and V8 are measured by V1ADC only. V9 and V10 are measured by V2ADC only. Both ADCs always operate synchronously commanded through ADV. This allows measurement of redundant sensors like NTCs connected to the input pin pairs V7, V9 or V8, V10 synchronously through the redundant VxADCs for minimum sensitivity to noise when comparing the results in the host controller. Other application use cases for the inputs V1 to V10 include contactor diagnostic, link voltage measurement, or battery to chassis-ground isolation resistance measurement. When the ADBMS2950B receives a new ADV command during an ongoing conversion, the VADCs are stopped and restarted. The corresponding result registers are not reset upon reception of a new ADV command but are updated at the end of each individual channel. For multi-measurements, this happens in the order of the channels in the table given above. Settings of the configuration registers that affect the VxADC measurements (VSx, SOAK) are captured when receiving the ADV command. Any change to those configurations does not affect an ongoing conversion, but only the next conversion triggered through ADV. |
